On the 7th of March 2014 will see a peaceful demonstration organized by the LGBTI human rights advocacy community ‘kuchu Diaspora Alliance’ outside the Uganda embassy in Denmark against the new Anti Homosexuality Law that was signed a week back by the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
This new law poses heavy and grave penalties for violating any of its provisions with a full range from cancellation of licenses of human rights organizations that support LGBTI rights to life imprisonment for those that are found guilty of committing “acts against nature” as Father Simon Lokodo the Ethics and integrity minister calls it.
It should be noted that Denmark is one of the countries that respect these rights and to show this support to this community, Denmark fell suit to countries that stopped its aid for development to Uganda.
Uganda Gay On Move (UGOM) community in the Netherlands is in full support of this move by Kuchu Diaspora Alliance and urge the international community to follow suit in order to raise voices against this new odious law against humanity.
If you are interested in joining hands in this movement, feel free to reach them on firstname.lastname@example.org.
