Among the achievements UGOM is proud to have reached in the first quarter of 2015 is its general secretary Rhona Bugembe to be selected by the Dutch’s most liked women Magazine “VIVA magazine” which is one of the most read magazines in the Netherlands.
Rhona has been so paramount in the operations of Uganda Gay on Move (UGOM) through her human rights advocacy and activism, she has for the last two years to date been the general secretary of UGOM. She has made all her way to the achieves of VIVA magazine through being herself in all perspectives of life through commitment, determination, persistence, honesty and trustworthy. She embraced a life she started aftermath of her fleeing her beloved motherland Uganda. She has publicly campaigned for an end to homophobia in Uganda, where homosexuality is illegal therefore she is an important Ugandan Gender activist and human rights defender who has a passion for LGBTQ issues based in the Netherlands.
Briefly about Viva, It was first published on 7 October 1972 by De Geïllustreerde Pers, which is part of VNU, and used the subtitle Dames week blad (English: Women’s weekly magazine). Since 2001 it is published by Sanoma, and has a circulation of 70.000 copies (2012). Viva is a weekly fashion magazine for women, published in the Netherlands
In 2012, Viva celebrated its 40th anniversary. The magazine used Layar to create an interactive magazine cover.
